I am a Londoner and I graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1989 with a Masters Degree in Illustration. After leaving the RCA, I worked extensively in editorial and advertising, producing commissions ranging from book covers and magazine illustration to packaging and advertising. My work has been published both nationally and internationally.
Alongside my professional practice, I had the pleasure and privilege of teaching in colleges and universities for over 30 years. It was a deeply rewarding period, witnessing students develop confident, original and exciting work.
I have since relocated to Devon where I now work from my studio immersed in a landscape of exceptional beauty. Much of my time is devoted to plein air painting with the occasional still life creeping in, mainly the humble potato. I feel my illustrative background lends a strong narrative quality to my work. Painting is a necessity for me, driven by a natural curiosity to create images that evoke a sense of place and capture fleeting moments in time.
