Joshua Andrews Wins This Year's Brownston Fresh Talent Award
The gallery has always liked to support emerging artists and for many years has enjoyed a close relationship with the Arts University Plymouth. Each year a graduate from the BA (Hons) Painting, Drawing & Printmaking Course is presented with the Brownston Fresh Talent Award, and this year it was given to Joshua Andrews.
The standard of work was exceptionally high but I chose Joshua because of his striking use of colour and impressionistic style.. I particularly like the way Joshua's paintings evoke the feeling of being in a dreamlike place while at the same time creating a strong sense of atmosphere. His work has a confident boldness, each thoughtfully composed and clearly reflecting a thorough, well considered process.
