James Tatum, SWAc*
James moved from Canada to the U.K. in the early 1980's. He
has drawn and painted for most of his life. After a long career in industrial
design and engineering, he moved to Devon in 2007 in order to paint
full time.
His landscape paintings begin with drawings and mixed media sketchbook
studies done en plein air. Most of the paintings are then completed in his studio in Exeter. He is interested in seeking the resonances in the environment which are
his authentic responses to what he see and feels. The paintings are a record of the
total sensory experience of being in the landscape.
His paintings ae in collections in the U.K., Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy,
Australia, New Zealand and the U.S.A.
He regularly teaches in the U.K., Holland and Italy.
