Sam Ferriday Barnes

Sams work is a whimsical look on life. She decribes her work as " a visual diary of life with plenty of deviation from fact and form"

Sam was originally from rural Buckinghamshire and educated at Si John Cass  ( London Metropolitam University) and the Central school od Art. She then worked in a london gallery before opening a gallery in Uckfield in East Sussex in 1985 sellling 19th century paintings and finally returning to painting full tinme encouraged by the Artisit Anna  Pugh, her friend and mentor, who she lived opposite for almost 30 years. She moved to South Devon with her husband and dogs to continue the story telling tradition  exhibiting with  Art and Horse Racing Gallery in Newmarket. Her work has sold to collectors in Europe, Austrailia, and America with titles " A Bad Throw? , " The Lookout" " One Upmanship" and "A Private Polka" . 

 She is currently preparing for a solo show "From East to West" to celebrate the uniqueness of a vanishing rural English life.
