Simeon Stafford met L S Lowry when he was 14 having won the Robert Owen Schools Award for Art. He became an influence on his painting style especially in his northern industrial scenes. However when Simeon moved to Cornwall his work took on a lighter note, reflecting the light and colour of the south West. He retained the simple and primitive style while populating his paintings with jaunty, fun-filled characters. Simeon's paintings are instantly recognisable and create a sense of fun and joy.
