Anthony Amos British, 1950-2010

Anthony Amos was a remarkable painter.  His maritime scenes in particular are reminiscent of the old Dutch masters, Rembrandt and van Goyen, and British icon J W W Turner.  His wonderful pantings bring to life scenes from the past, recording the hardship of human endeavour: men and women working on the land, men and horses working together pulling lifeboats and ploughs, and of the great sailing ships giving way to a new era of steam; all created in his own inimitable style producing an impressive body of work that entrances the viewer with its raw, powerful emotion.
